BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
On October 6, the Blessing of the Animals will take place at the National Sporting Library and Museum at 2 p.m. This ecumenical and interfaith blessing will celebrate humankind's relationships with working and companion animals of all shapes and sizes. Pets, livestock, working animals, wildlife... all creatures great and small, are welcome.
Clergy from faith communities across the area will offer universal readings that reflect the value of animal life, then move through the "congregation" to each animal, offering individual blessings for a long and happy life.
This event will incorporate the many segments of animal life here in Northern Virginia. For a focus on land and open space preservation, this is a key point: the "congregation" will include agricultural animals and wildlife, segments at high risk these days. Details at info@NationalSporting.org.
