Gibbens has been on MD Anderson’s Board of Visitors since 1981, devoting countless volunteer hours to promote, heighten awareness and raise funds as a national and international ambassador for one of the world’s great medical institutions.
Recently, he was honored by the hospital with life member status.
In an interview for a moving video tribute honoring her husband, Beth Gibbens, his wife of 52 years, said, “Wayne loves to have a purpose.”

CASABLANCA IN MIDDLEBURG
Is that Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman we see in Middleburg? Or is it Gloria and Howard Armfield who are channeling the stars of the 1942 iconic film, Casablanca, this season’s theme for the Windy Hill Gala. Armfield and Armfield are the honorary chairs for this year’s event set for Saturday, November 23rd at the Salamander Resort and Spa.
The 2019 fundraiser is earmarked for children in the community. The night promises to be magical with palm trees, Moroccan lights and, returning for his swan song, Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra will have our guests dancing the night away. It’s our personal favorite band leader’s last official act before he passes the baton to Chou Chou. Details: www.windyhillfoundation.org.
