Virginia Thoroughbred Project has received word from several friends and a neighbor about the newly formed Virginia Thoroughbred Project (VTP) operated under the auspices of and in cooperation with The Montpelier Foundation at farm-home of the James Madison family in Montpelier, Orange County.

The VTP will be lead by President Sue Hart, along with several members of the former Montpelier Advisory Board. Under this new arrangement, 41 Thoroughbreds formerly cared for by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation have been adopted and will remain on the pastoral estate.

Jimmy Hatcher, Kathy and Gerry Newman and other friends of the Blue Ridge Hunt gathered at the Shenandoah Country Club for an evening of dinner, dancing and a fundraising auction.

Ari Isaacman-Beck and Gwem Krosnick will perform Feb 9 at Barton Oaks

The Community Music School of the Piedmont (CMSP) will present the acclaimed duo, violinist Ari Isaacman-Beck and cellist Gwen Krosnick at the school’s 13th annual Candlelight Concert Fundraiser on Sunday, February 9th at Barton Oaks in The Plains.

After a decade together, Mr. Isaacman-Beck and Ms. Krosnick bring a high-octane, exuberant musical style to the event. They have performed to audiences across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

The dynamic duo is equally at home as recitalists or chamber musicians. Both are passionate advocates for music and enthusiastic educators.

Critics have declared: that “the duo strives to illuminate great music, old and new, and to make it come joyously alive – intellectually, emotionally, and viscerally – for every audience”.

Doors for the Candlelight Concert will open at 5 p.m. in the stunning ballroom at Barton Oaks, located at 2750 Landmark School Road. Prior to the concert, guests will be able to enjoy a glass of wine while viewing a

Best wishes and congratulations to our friend and neighbor, Al Griffin, on his recent election as president of the National Steeplechase Association based in Elkton, Maryland.

Many in the area know and will recognize Griffin who, along with Will Allison serve as the affable duo and colorful co-chairs of the Virginia Gold Cup scheduled this year on Saturday, May 2. The 2020 International Gold Cup is slated for Saturday, October 24, and both are held at Great Meadow in The Plains.
